Major Arcana

Understanding the Major Arcana

The Major Arcana is the heart and soul of the Tarot deck. It consists of 22 cards, beginning with The Fool (0) and ending with The World (XXI). These cards represent life’s most important experiences, spiritual teachings, karmic lessons, and major turning points that shape our personal journey.

Unlike the Minor Arcana, which focuses on everyday events and temporary situations, the Major Arcana deals with the bigger picture of life. These cards often appear during significant periods of change, personal growth, spiritual awakening, or when we are meant to learn important life lessons.

The Major Arcana is often referred to as “The Fool’s Journey.” In this symbolic journey, The Fool represents each one of us as we move through life, encountering experiences that teach us wisdom, resilience, self-awareness, and spiritual understanding.

The Journey Through the Major Arcana

• Cards 0 to X (The Fool to Wheel of Fortune): Focus on personal development, identity, relationships, choices, and self-discovery. This stage represents the beginning of life’s journey and the development of the self.

• Cards XI to XX (Justice to Judgement): Explore broader spiritual themes, karmic lessons, transformation, surrender, and awakening. These cards encourage us to integrate our experiences and gain deeper wisdom.

• Card XXI – The World: Represents completion, fulfillment, mastery, and the successful integration of life’s lessons.
